Biography

I believe in being happy and doing what you love. Doodling what I see and feel is just that. I create colorful, funky mandalas and other artwork with organic doodles and a bit of whimsy. I pair many of my designs with tag lines such as "Be Amazing", "Be Yourself" and other inspirational words. Creating these images is a meditative process for me. Though a few of my pieces contain specific imagery such as my "Earth Day" tree mandala, my favorite art comes from not knowing what the design or colors will be until the art is finished. I like to just let my mind relax and see what flows out of my pen or brush with no expectations. Nature is my biggest inspiration, especially texture. Colors, shapes and patterns come from those things that inspire me, whether its a seed pod I find on the ground or the texture of peeling paint.

I studied graphic design at University of the Arts and worked in that field for many years before deciding to listen to my inner artist. I have always been a doodler, scribbling on everything around me. One day I began drawing mandalas and fell in love. My artwork is a combination of composition, symmetry and color, mixed with my organic line work. This form of expression for me, is a perfect blend of my structured graphic design background and my whimsical drawing and painting.

There is a mantra, “Do one thing everyday that makes you happy.” I try to be creative in some small way every single day, whether it is drawing, painting, photography, or rearranging the furniture in my house. I still love typography and do some graphic design work on occasion for family and friends. "You can take the girl out of the design studio, but you can’t take the design out of the girl!" I currently live in New Jersey with my family and I am blessed to be able to do what I love each day.

Mandalas are circular patterns and images found in cultures all over the world dating back centuries. They appear naturally in nature and astronomy and can be found in art, architecture and garden design. They are also used in many healing practices and represent wholeness, unity and harmony.
